From studying History to supporting Data Migration projects
I graduated in History & Human Sciences and I have learnt that making History also means to collect data and put together the pieces to understand different processes. Although Data Migration is not so close to that what I studied during my university years, but that "historian" mindset and approach helped me in my career path. In the last couple of years that I spent in _VOIS, I worked in various fields and projects that were closely related to "master data" or "processes".
I support Data Migration projects as Data Governance Lead
My main responsibility as a Data Governance Lead is to support various internal and external data migration projects. With my and the team's expertise, we make sure that the quality of the data that are getting loaded to our database systems are reaching the maximum level of quality and adjust to the standard data processes. Besides that, my role is also responsible for fit-gap analysis, data harmonization (or standardization) and supporting the Local Market, the System Integrator through the data design workshops and different data loading phases. Data objects that are in spotlight for this role are suppliers, customers, materials, catalogues and financial data objects (such as general ledgers, profit and cost centers).
Investigating data issues and working in a great team
The main motivation in my current role is definitely to work with data in a wider sense. Since I moved in this position, I have learnt a lot about different data objects and in general to work with SAP, the logic of the system, and the connection between different data objects and SAP tables. The most exciting part for me, when some data related issue occur during the data migration phase, and I need to do investigation to understand the nature of the error and of course to fix it as soon as possible. This means that I need to contact different teams, doing some researches in our data library or just simply checking some SAP forums. The best feeling when I can discover a solution for an issue that is blocking the project.
Working with data is "cool"
I recommend to work in Data Migration or in Master Data field for those persons who are not afraid of data (that might sound boring sometimes), learning to use new systems and processes, like to jump into the details and to see behind the scenes.
My team won Core Excellence Award in 2020
In August-September 2020 my colleagues and myself won the Core Excellence Award from the Finance Operations and Controls Management Team for our efforts and support in go live of SCP solution for R25 that had showed a fantastic work ethic and determination. This project was a data cleansing project on the whole Catalogue database which was a prerequisite for launching the SCP solution platform integrated to SAP MDG.
